Overview

Image and Video Analytics at Scale

piXserve™ is an enterprise class application that automatically creates a searchable index of visual content in media files. piXserve scans digital images and videos, stores searchable descriptions of its contents, and assigns keywords to things it recognizes. piXserve can detect and recognize individual faces, objects, scenes, and text strings in a variety of languages.

You can put piXserve to work on your archived media and on your live video sources. Use piXserve to help you discover, flag, and keep track of content. Let piXserve help you discover relationships between content from different sources and different types. Integrate piXserve functionality into your analytical pipeline and advance your understanding of events, situations, and ability to make actionable predictions.

A comprehensive set of features and capabilities creates the foundation for solutions to a broad range of use cases. Whether you are a small workgroup or a large enterprise, there is a version of piXserve that addresses your needs.

piXserve Editions

The Enterprise Edition of piXserve (piXserve-E) is suitable for large-scale enterprise implementations. As described here, the software provides a wide range of features to help users find and work with image/video content.

A REST Web-Services API is available to interface to piXserve-E (sold separately). piXserve-E can also connect to other instances of piXserve on the network and scale both indexing and searching functions horizontally across multiple nodes. Multiple servers can work together and can be load balanced for a robust configuration (both for indexing and for searching). Geographically distributed configurations are also supported. Index records can be shared and made available to other piXserve installations for search or alerting purposes.

piXserve-E includes all the features found in piXserve-S and piXserve-P, and adds several that are important to enterprise customers. For example, piXserve-E can also process large satellite images (NITF or similar formats), as well as connect to remote WAMI servers (Wide Area Motion Imagery). piXserve-E can also connect to hadoop implementations of piXserve. This provides for significant scalability for both indexing and searching. It also makes it easier to correlate information in images/videos to that from other data-type sources. For more information on that, please click here.

The Professional Edition of piXserve (piXserve-P) is ideal for larger groups of users who work with significant repositories of archived video or large numbers of live video cameras or other IP-addressable video sources. There are no restrictions on the number of hours of video that can be indexed and searched with piXserve-P, other than as limited by the hardware used. The same applies to live video feeds from IP addressable cameras and broadcast sources. piXserve-E is installed on customer-provided hardware at their own data-center. Key features are described here.

A REST Web-Services API is available to interface to piXserve-P (sold separately). piXserve-P can also connect to other instances of piXserve on the network and scale both indexing and searching functions horizontally across multiple nodes. Multiple servers can work together and can be load balanced for a robust configuration (both for indexing and for searching). Geographically distributed configurations are also supported. The index records can be shared and made available to other piXserve installations for search or alerting purposes.

The Standard Edition of piXserve (piXserve-S) is ideal for larger groups of users who work with significant repositories of images. piXserve-S is installed on customer-provided hardware at their own data-center.

A REST Web-Services API is available to interface to piXserve-S (sold separately). piXserve-S can also connect to other instances of piXserve on the network and scale both indexing and searching functions horizontally across multiple nodes. There are no restrictions on the number of images that can be indexed and searched with piXserve-S, other than as limited by the hardware used.

piXserve-S includes all the features found in the Workgroup Edition, and adds several that are important in environments with broader sets of digital media search requirements.

The Workgroup Edition of piXserve (piXserve-W) aims to serve the needs of a small groups of users. Over 90 different image formats and all the major video formats can be indexed and searched with this version of piXserve. piXserve-W is sold on an annual subscription basis. The starter pack covers up to 5 users, and customers can purchase additional user seats in increments of 5. piXserve-W is installed on a single computer at the customer site. A server license covers installation on a 2-CPU computer (unlimited number of cores). One or more GPU cards are recommended as well. The scope of the databases that can be created and searched is limited by the hardware characteristics of the single server on which piXserve-W is installed. There are no API interfaces to piXserve-W, and unlike other editions of piXserve, multiple instances of piXserve-W cannot be interfaced to work as one.

piXlogic has teamed with Amazon to make cloud-enabled versions of its software available on that platform. Both public and private clouds are supported. Click on the links below for additional information.

piXserve Cloud is hosted on Amazon's AWS Marketplace, and is offered on a convenient pay-as-you-go basis (hourly pricing for Standard, Professional, and Enterprise editions). Learn more about piXserve Cloud for Amazon Web Services Marketplace here.

piXserve also supports distributed implementations on the vmWare platform. Please contact piXlogic for additional information.

Run piXserve on hadoop clusters and leverage the power of image and video analytics at scale. piXlogic has partnered with Cloudera and Intel to help you make the most of your archived image/video data, and data coming in from streaming real time sources. Image/video analytics at scale helps your users discover valuable content. The metadata generated can also help your data-scientists discover and interpret correlations to other data-types also being stored/analyzed on hadoop

piXserve-H-cl is a special versions of piXserve that can be deployed as a parcel in a Cloudera cluster and is managed through the standard Cloudera-Manager interface. piXserve-H-cl runs as a worker node in the cluster, supporting both indexing and searching functions. piXserve-H-cl works on image and video files stored in the hadoop file system.

piXserve-E-cl is a manager node that can reside inside or outside the cluster. piXserve-E-cl interacts with Cloudera-Manager and underlying name-nodes to dispatch work to those piXserve-H-cl nodes where the data (the image/video files) to be operated on resides.

More information about the architecture is available here.

piXserve-E-cl and piXserve-H-cl are sold on an annual subscription license basis. There is a starter pack that comprises an instance of piXserve-E-cl and five piXserve-H-cl worker nodes. Additional blocks of worker nodes can be purchased/added on demand as the scope of your data warehouse grows. Please contact piXlogic for additional information.

piXsearch is a Web Services API for piXserve. With it, piXserve functionality can be accessed directly from third party applications, bypassing the standard piXserve User Interface. If you are a customer operating a web site and wish to provide piXserve features to your users without going through the piXserve user interface, piXsearch is for you. If you are a systems integrator and are building custom solutions for your customers and want to incorporate image and video search functionality in your deliverables, piXsearch is for you. If you are building a stack of cloud services and want to integrate piXserve for internal or commercial use, piXsearch is also for you.

piXsearch is based on a REST (Representational State Transfer) architecture. It is stateless and utilizes simple HTTP methods such as POST and GET, for implementation.

The Web-Service API provided by piXsearch is extensive, and gives access to all of the functionality available through piXserve's own user interface. A separate API is available for each version of piXserve (Web, Standard, Professional, Enterprise, Alert, and Elastic Cloud Standard). The API package comprises a set of documents, a license, technical support, and training.
